Through a living tree, Adam brought death; through a dead tree, Jesus brought life.

Through a living tree, Adam brought death; through a dead tree, Jesus brought life.

This Blog is the comparison of the same temptation but with different outcome in both of the story Adam in Garden of Eden and Jesus in Wilderness

In the Beginning (Garden)....

Genesis 2 : 8
Lord God planted a garden in the east, in a place called Eden, and placed the first man, Adam, there after forming him

The scripture says that Adam was in the Garden and verse 9 says that there were food pleasing to the eye and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

In the new beginning (Wilderness)....

Matthew 4:1-2
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

The scripture says that Jesus was led by the spirit (God's motive) to the wilderness

Comparison (Garden and Wilderness) :

Adam : The Garden has everything beyond a man needed to live unlimited resource and rivers
Jesus : had no resource no garden no river no water no help no food just nothing - only wilderness(alone)

The Fruit:

Genesis 1 26 : 28
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

27 So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

God gave adam dominion over everything in the world but he chose to fall, in Genesis 3 Satan asked Eve that "Did God really say ,'you must not eat from any tree in the garden'? " (The fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil)

The Bread:

Matthew 4 : 3
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Later in Verse 8 The satan will offer dominion over all the Kingdoms of the world

But Jesus refused every temptation by answering with Scripture and not giving proper attention to satan's words

Comparison (Fruit vs Bread) :

Eve:
Satan used fruit as temptation
Satan is using God's word for deceiving
Eve is not hungry she is having a wonderful place to live
Adam and Eve have already has dominion over the world

Jesus:
Satan used bread as temptation
Same thing, Satan is using God's word for deceiving
Jesus is hungry after fasting for 40 days and 40 nights and he is in wilderness
Satan is offering dominion over the world

Lie :

Eve responded with a twisted word that "not to touch it" which is not what God said, God said if you eat it you will die and satan later decieved Eve by saying that "You will not die".

The serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die!
Satan lied here with some truth in verse 5 where he reveals that they will have wisdom knowing Good and evil

Here Eve fell into the temptation

Then eve desired and ate some and gave to Adam and he ate it - The fall

Eve replied to satan, Eve desired, Eve ate and made Adam fall too by giving it to him

So Eve did everything ?

No!!, in verse 6 it is written that Adam was with her while she was eating the fruit they sinned together
Adam didn't say anything he just stood there and fell along with Eve

Truth :

Matthew 4 : 4
But He answered and said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’”

Satan applies the same strategy with Jesus he is tempting god by offering dominion but Jesus is winning by using the truth (God's word)

Here Jesus is not responding to Satan directly but he is using God's word to tackle Satan's temptation

Jesus refuses the flesh 'Man shall not live on bread alone'

Comparision (Lie vs Truth) :

Eve is replying to Satan words and agreeing with him
Adam and Eve wanted to be like God
Adam and Eve satisfied their flesh

Jesus didn't agree with satan to fall and test the Lord
Jesus could have escaped the cross by accepting Satan offer but he didn't
Jesus didn't satisfy his flesh

No Acceptance :

Genesis 3 : 12-13

12 The man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me some of the fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

When lord asked about the mistake Adam did
Adam pointed Eve and Eve pointed Satan

Which shows no acceptance for the sin they have committed and gave us death

Acceptance :

1 peter 2 : 24

24 and He Himself [a]brought our sins in His body up on the [b]cross, so that we might die to [c]sin and live for righteousness; by His [d]wounds you were healed.

Here Jesus gave himself for all the sins which we have committed and gave us life "by His wounds you were healed"

Entry of Angels in the Garden and Wilderness :

In the Garden:

Genesis 3:24 as fierce guardians stationed by God to block human access to the Tree of Life after Adam and Eve are expelled from the Garden of Eden

God used angels to block human access to the Garden

In the Wilderness:

matthew 4 : 11
11 Then the devil *left Him; and behold, angels came and began to serve Him.

Angels were sent to help Jesus

The climax (Satan the ultimate loser) :

Satan thought he was winning throught the Bible and he is deceiving us by making us think he is winning during the time he is in Earth but that idiot lost when he fell from heaven

He thought he won in Garden when he made Adam and Eve to sin but he confirmed the free will designed by God

Before the fruit got digested God cursed the satan and revealed his end
God revealed everything from rest of Genesis to the end of Revelation in this one verse Genesis 3 : 15

And I will [a]make enemies
Of you and the woman,
And of your [b]offspring and her [c]Descendant;
He shall [d]bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise Him on the heel.”

Before God curse Adam and Eve he cursed satan and revealed that Eve's offspring Christ Jesus will crush his head but satan will bruise his heel - The first Gospel of bible

"bruise his heel" - Already completed in the cross

Satan lost in the Garden by confirming the free will

Satan thought he was winning when people during Noah's time and Moses, David, Solomon and the Kings in Israel failed to follow God's word until Jesus came (Eve's offspring)

The spirit led Jesus to the wilderness to defeat Satan, This time God is deciding the player, battlefield and the time. Satan fell into the trap by thinking he can win by seeing the factors around Jesus but God outplayed Satan

Satan lost again when he made Jesus to die on the Cross as Jesus died for our sins and rose on third day

Adam failed in paradise, Jesus won in wilderness

Adam stood in a perfect garden and fell.

Jesus stood in a barren wilderness and overcame.

Adam listened to the serpent and brought death into the world.

Jesus obeyed the Father and brought life to the world.

Through a living tree, Adam brought death; through a dead tree, Jesus brought life.
